UT Readings

An ultrasonic thickness (UT) meter is a tool commonly used by Commercial and Specialised Diving with reference to inspection work.

The device is frequently used to monitor metal thickness on underwater structures. It helps to provide a more accurate analysis of the condition of the structure. One of the main advantages of using the UT meter is that it does not damage the structure. This has proved to be invaluable for the underwater inspection of structures, which should be inspected and cleaned on a regular basis. Other destructive methods could further deteriorate the structure and should be avoided.

UT meters are frequently used alongside cathodic protection meters in the process of underwater inspection. Please see our blog on CP meters here: https://commercialandspecialiseddiving.wordpress.com/2015/10/26/cathodic-protection-for-underwater-structures/

Commercial and Specialised diving have a wealth of experienced divers and supervisors who use UT meters on a regular basis. Please contact us for more information on 01202 580007 today.
